Check the fit before the color.
A keyboard percentage or key count alone does not establish compatibility. Compare your exact keyboard with the diagram for the exact keycap variant.
1. Match the stem
Check the switch mounting system. An MX-style cross alone does not confirm full compatibility. Do not assume laptop, membrane or low-profile keyboards fit.
2. Check layout and language
Identify ANSI or ISO, your legend language, Enter and both Shift keys. Check the bottom row and spacebar. A standard letter key is 1u; modifier keys can have different widths even on keyboards of the same size.
3. Compare every included key
Match the complete kit diagram to your keyboard, including any split spacebar, short right Shift and unusual modifiers. More keys do not guarantee the widths you need.
4. Check profile and row
Profile affects key shape and height. Sculpted sets use different shapes by row. For an accent key, check its row position, stem and clearance against neighboring keys.
5. Check lighting expectations
Printed legends are not necessarily shine-through. Lighting results depend on the keycap construction and the keyboard’s LED position. Sound also depends on switches, case and other components.
Before changing your keycaps
Disconnect the keyboard and follow its manufacturer’s instructions, especially for stabilized keys. Stop if a part resists. A switch puller does not make a soldered board hot-swappable.
